A brief overview

The successful candidate is expected to assist with all the aspects of projection related works including but not limited to ESR reporting/analysis, local statutory projection, embedded value reporting, business planning and various other global/regional/local initiatives.

S/he is also expected to support the tasks above indirectly by performing a wide range of day-to-day valuation work including US GAAP reporting/analysis, Prophet model development for new business and maintenance of existing models. This role will report to Head of Valuation Model Governance.

What you will do

• Support production of ESR results and local statutory projection
• Support production of the quarterly/monthly US GAAP results and annual business plan, as well as US Stat and US Tax
• Support analysis of quarterly/monthly US GAAP results against business plan
• Support modeling of key business on Prophet
• Assist with the review of embedded value/PBEC results
• Assist with improvements to process controls
• Support valuation initiatives in the global/region/Japan as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in actuarial studies or equivalent with 3 or more IAJ, SOA or equivalent actuarial exams passed
• 3 years or more work experience in actuarial function in insurance (including reinsurance) company
• Fundamental knowledge of Insurance Business Law and related regulations
• Fundamental knowledge of the insurance industry and various types of insurance products
• Computer savvy including a strong knowledge in Excel
• Good communication skills - verbal and written Japanese
• Good communication skills - verbal and written English
• Modeling experience on Prophet or AXIS and a strong knowledge of SQL and VBA is preferred
• Strong analytical and data management skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously is preferred
• Highly motivated, conceptual thinker who is able to collaborate in a team environment or work independently and take a leadership role in a wide variety of assignments is preferred
