Senior Actuary Expert (m/f/d) - Process Development

JOB PURPOSE/ROLE

We are looking for a motivated and investigative qualified actuary to join our Process Development Team which is part of CFO Actuarial in AGCS. Your main tasks will include developing and enhancing global actuarial approaches and processes for the annual reserve review, monthly closings, and big data set handling. This encompasses data gathering and manipulation, model development and refinement, data analysis, documentation, and peer reviews. You enjoy working within an international environment and with a team of diverse skill sets. You will also help training and developing actuarial skills within the team.

You will report to the Head of Process Development and IFRS17 and be based in Munich. You will ensure that the team leader can focus on strategic matters by processing delegable tasks. You also participate in important projects where the involvement of the manager's office is necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role you will ...

  • Support the team leader to provide the actuarial process deliveries, in time and manner, with strong P&C actuarial expertise to be applied within the models and processes in responsibility.
  • Develop global actuarial approaches and processes as well as enhance actuarial models and analyses.
  • Drive innovation and efficiency in all our processes, particularly to improve annual reserve review quality and control.
  • Peer review works from other team members and provides training and guidance to junior colleagues.
  • Promote close collaboration and interaction with the Actuarial team and various business areas, particularly Accounting, FinSol and Planning & Performance Management.
  • Keep abreast of leading market practices and drive innovation.

    KEY REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS

  • Excellent tertiary qualification (ideally Master), preferably in Mathematics, Statistics or other appropriate discipline or qualified by experience in a related discipline.
  • Actuarial certification and membership in a recognized professional society.
  • Required computer skills: Strong knowledge of Excel, Access, VBA and SQL. Knowledge of other programming languages (e.g. R, Python) would be a desired asset.
  • 5 to 10 years significant post-qualification business experience, preferable spanning multiple actuarial areas as well as multiple types and lines of business.
  • Finance and insurance know-how (ideally P&C) as well as understanding of complexities inherent in an insurance group (consolidation processes, legal vs management view) allowing for cross-departmental thinking and acting.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability in order to identify appropriate solutions for business challenges.
  • Experience in developing/enhancing and implementing models/analysis and processes.
  • Proven expertise communicating with stakeholders on a clear and structured way, in order to make technical actuarial topics accessible to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to positively influence others' actions, decisions, opinions and motivate others without direct authority.
  • Proven experience in an international working environment (incl. business trips).
