Actuarial Assistant, GFS Risk Management

The Actuarial Assistant supports the actuarial modeling, projection, analysis as well as automation for the Risk Management division of Global Financial Solutions (GFS) Asset Intensive (AI). Participates in key unit projects and performs ad hoc requests assigned to the Risk Management division.

Responsibilities

  • Runs actuarial projections for different model assumptions and input variables
  • Validates and analyzes projection results
  • Helps model conversion and enhancement for business needs
  • Assists automation of quarterly asset liability management (ALM) process
  • Supports development of hedging and capital optimization strategies
  • Assists other areas within GFS or RGA in the development and validation of projections for GFS business
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with other GFS and Risk Management team members
  • Participates in key unit and ad-hoc department projects as needed



Requirements

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Sciences, Math, Finance, Statistics, or related field
  • Progress towards actuarial designation with at least 1 actuarial exam completed
  • 0-3 years of actuarial experience in life insurance/reinsurance


Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Finance, Statistics, or related field
  • Programming experience is a plus


Skills and Abilities

Required:

  • Intermediate PC and technical skills, including database applications (Access, SQL, or equivalent technology), spreadsheets
  • Ability to compile, analyze, refine, and interpret large amounts of financial data/results and model projections
  • Ability to be flexible when needed, take initiative, and demonstrate accountability
  • Intermediate oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to share and impart knowledge
  • Ability to set goals and prioritize workload
  • Intermediate investigative, analytical, and problem--solving skills
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects
  • Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives
  • Intermediate interpersonal skills
  • Ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions
  • Ability to foster customer service as needed
  • Ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines and work well with all levels of management
  • General business knowledge


Preferred:

  • Ability to program in Python, C++, MATLAB, or programming languages
  • Experience with actuarial software (Prophet, AXIS, or equivalent)
  • Competent understanding of key insurance-related concepts, including life and annuity products, reinsurance contracts, and basic GAAP, Statutory, and tax accounting principles
  • Competent knowledge and understanding of actuarial, ALM and risk management concepts

State of Colorado: This information is provided per the Colorado Equal Pay Act. The pay range for this position in Colorado is $60,055 to $85,295 per year. Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA compensation includes an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and maintains a full range of competitive health and life insurance, retirement and other employee benefits.
