The individual in this role will primarily contribute to the process development and maintenance of the principles based reserving (PBR) requirements for the Asia Traditional business in RGA Re (US). Development will include ensuring complete process documentation and controls are in place to calculate and report liabilities on a quarterly basis under both US Statutory and tax requirements. Maintenance will include quarterly compilation and validation of data and production of liabilities.
Responsibilities
Principal duties and responsibilities include:
- Manage, validate and reconcile valuation data including development and maintenance of controls and audit checks on the valuation data
- Calculate and report liabilities on a quarterly basis under both US Statutory and tax requirements including preparation of movement analysis and investigation of unexpected changes
- Contribute to the development, documentation, maintenance, and enhancement of PBR processes, procedures, and controls
- Assist in the development and review of assumption and/or model change documentation and implementation
- Assist in the annual preparation of the PBR report
- Review the necessary documentation and checks for any new models built
- Develop internal projections for RGA's Principle based initiatives including financial & capital planning and analysis
- Work to ensure that all lines of business and company risks have been modeled in a reasonable, accurate, and repeatable manner
- Coordinate, as needed, with other PBR teams within RGA
Requirements
Education and Experience
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Finance, Statistics, or a related field
- Recent ASA accreditation
- 3+ years of actuarial experience in the life insurance industry
Preferred:
- Reinsurance experience
Skills and Abilities
Required:
- Advanced PC and technical skills, including database applications (Access, Oracle, SQL or equivalent technology) and spreadsheets
- Advanced ability to compile, analyze, refine, and interpret large amounts of financial data and projection model results
- Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey complex ideas in a way that is understandable by all stakeholders
- Advanced interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to work effectively with different disciplines, including valuation, investments, finance, accounting, and information technology
- Advanced investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of life, health, and annuity products
- Knowledge of US Statutory and Tax valuation and financial reporting
- Knowledge of one or more actuarial modeling systems
- Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment
- Ability to simultaneously contribute to multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to balance detail with department goals and objectives
Preferred:
- Ability to program in Prophet and/or Moddy's AXIS
- Advanced project management skills, demonstrating an ability to leverage various resources and tools to reach a common goal
- Reinsurance industry and product knowledge
- Working knowledge of US Principle Based reserving
- Familiarity with life insurance company financial statements

State of Colorado: This information is provided per the Colorado Equal Pay Act. The pay range for this position in Colorado is $82,790 to $124,985 per year. Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA compensation includes an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and maintains a full range of competitive health and life insurance, retirement and other employee benefits.
