Executive Director & Actuary, Asset Liability Management

The Executive Director & Actuary, ALM will lead Prophet Asset CF production by reviewing/running models and analyzing/communicating results. Collaborate with Prophet Asset model development team on Prophet upgrade, model enhancement and adoption efforts. Performs reporting duties, provides technical support in the form of desktop applications, relational databases, homegrown actuarial software, and commercial actuarial software and supports senior actuaries by developing/maintaining actuarial models used to perform asset liability management, asset modeling, and other ALM related duties. Interacts with other RGA departments and offices to ensure that department work products are portrayed correctly, understood, and completed in a timely fashion.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Prophet Asset CF production by reviewing/running models and analyzing/communicating results. Asset CF production includes but not limited to GAAP/Stat Valuation, ALM reports, Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA), Plan, and Prinical Based Initiatives (PBI).
  • Collaborate and coordinate with business units to promoting the usage of consistent scenarios and assumptions across the global organization.
    • Lead Global Economic Database development
    • Take the ownership of LDTI discount rate methodology
  • Collaborate with Prophet Asset model development team on Prophet and library upgrades, model enhancements, and adoption efforts
  • Member of certain Business unit / Investment ALM committees. Facilitate analysis and review of the BU ALM and identify value add portfolio allocation actions. Lead and implement best practices for management of market risks
  • Assists with projects to coordinate, develop and implement ALM analysis, assessment, and reporting.
  • Provides support to senior management and assists with special projects.



Requirements

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics or related field
  • FSA Certification
  • 7+ years of actuarial experience
  • Minimum 3 years of Prophet & ALS Asset modeling experience
  • ALM / risk management experience or Product pricing/valuation experience


Preferred:

  • 10+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance/reinsurance
  • Advance knowledge on Asset modeling and derivative instruments.
  • Advanced understanding of US GAAP/LDTI and IFRS17.
  • Master's degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics or related field


Skills and Abilities

Required:

  • Advanced PC and technical skills, including database applications (Access, Oracle, SQL or equivalent technology), spreadsheets, statistical programs and actuarial software (Prophet, AXIS, or equivalent).
  • Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and to work well within a team environment and participate in department projects.


Preferred:

  • Advanced interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to work effectively with different disciplines, including pricing, finance, accounting, systems, and administration.
  • Ability to compile, analyze, refine, and interpret large amounts of financial data/results and model projections.
  • Complex analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Competent knowledge and understanding of actuarial and accounting concepts.

State of Colorado: This information is provided per the Colorado Equal Pay Act. The pay range for this position in Colorado is $125,435 to $191,760 per year. Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA compensation includes an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and maintains a full range of competitive health and life insurance, retirement and other employee benefits.
