Position Overview
The Senior Actuarial Assistant, under limited supervision, supports senior actuaries by developing, maintaining, and reviewing actuarial models used to analyze and price life reinsurance new business and inforce opportunities as well as other technical support. Interacts with other RGA departments to ensure that department work products are portrayed correctly, understood, and completed in a timely fashion.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and test AXIS pricing models to price the life business to ensure business meets profit expectations, client deadlines are met, and appropriate models are added/maintained in the new business pipeline.
- Contributes to the development, documentation, maintenance, and enhancement of processes, reports, and tools. Coordinates these activities as assigned.
- Serves as a liaison with other associates and departments as needed.
- Provides support to senior actuaries and participates in department or cross-functional special projects as needed and called upon.
Requirements
Education and Experience
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Science, Statistics or related field
- 2+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance
- 5 of: P, FM, IFM, STAM, LTAM, SRM, PA or FAP1
Skills and Abilities
Required:
- Ability to compile, analyze, refine, and interpret large amounts of financial data/results and model projections.
- Basic comprehension of actuarial and accounting concepts.
- Advanced Word, Excel and database application (SQL, Access Oracle) skills
- Advanced PC and programming languages (e.g., VBA) skills.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills.
- Advanced interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to work effectively with different disciplines, including pricing, finance, accounting, systems, and administration.
- Complex investigative, analytical and problem solving skills.
- Advanced organizational skills with a detail-oriented ability to document, track and follow up on items.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, balancing priorities and deliverables while meeting tight deadlines.

External Job Language
State of Colorado: This information is provided per the Colorado Equal Pay Act. The pay range for this position in Colorado is $72,340 to $102,725 per year. Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA compensation includes an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and maintains a full range of competitive health and life insurance, retirement and other employee benefits.
