Senior Actuarial Associate, Global Valuation Support

Position Overview

Under limited supervision, work with Valuation staff (locally and with local international offices) in the model operations and support role, produce actuarial projections, and maximize resource utilization. Collaborate cross-functionally (e.g. Valuation, Global support, and IT) to implement strategies and standards, and to enable the advancement and integration of RGA processes and systems. Ensure data integrity and processes within the Valuation platform and with areas outside Valuation and minimize the disruptions to the actuarial reporting process.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritizes, produces, validates, and delivers projections in ADAM system according to business needs and system capacity.
  • Develops unbiased projections for financial planning and analysis and assists with communication of financial analytics and results in terms of major drivers of variance.
  • Serves as a liaison with global valuation, pricing, administration, systems, support, audit, and IT departments.
  • Work with Valuation associates globally to support the adoption of enhanced business processes and system capabilities.
  • Develop an advanced understanding of RGA's Valuation processes, data, and systems within and outside Valuation and ensure the end-to-end integration.
  • Engage IT resources to ensure business requirements are met and implement the proper technical solutions aligned with the business strategies.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required.



Requirements

Education & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics or related field
  • At least five of P, FM, IFM, LTAM, STAM, SRM, PA, or FAP1 actuarial exams completed
  • 3+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance/reinsurance


Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics or related field
  • Willingness to pursue FSA accreditation
  • 1-2 years IT-related experience
  • Working knowledge of Alteryx and Prophet


Skills& Abilities

  • Advanced PC and technical skills, including database applications (Access, Oracle, SQL or equivalent technology), spreadsheets, statistical programs and actuarial software (Prophet, MoSes, TAS, AXIS, or equivalent).
  • Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to collaborate and liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines, and work well with all levels of management.
  • Advanced ability to translate business needs and problems into implementable specifications and support the implementation of technical and business solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively with users in different time zones and regional offices.
  • Ability to compile, analyze, refine, and interpret large amounts of financial data/results and model projections.
  • Complex investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Competent knowledge and understanding of actuarial and accounting concepts.
  • Ability to well within a team environment and participate in department projects.
