Brief Position Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Reinsurance Group of America (RGA) for a Qualified Pricing Actuary to support the growth of the EMEA Financial Solutions (EFS) Pricing Team.

This position will form part of the EFS Pricing Team based in London.The team has circa 25 members, where about half are Qualified Actuaries and the rest made up of Pricing Analyst members.

The role has a transactional focus, with key responsibilities including pricing, modelling, risk analysis and structuring of new business opportunities in EMEA.It covers a wide variety of reinsurance transactions (longevity, funded and capital solutions).

What you will do

• Contribute to / review / lead the production of quotations for reinsurance transactions.Over time, the successful candidate will gain exposure to longevity, funded and financial reinsurance opportunities.
• Partner with the Business Development team to determine client needs and objectives, understand and analyse client information, and design terms and structures of transactions to meet those needs and objectives.
• Document and present pricing recommendations to RGA leadership, communicating key metrics, risks and areas where actuarial judgement was required.Actively partake in the positioning of quotations, balancing risk and commercial considerations.
• Contribute to / review / lead allocated projects and participate in the ongoing development and/or research of pricing methods and procedures with the support or in collaboration with other actuaries in the team.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge through attending workshops and conferences.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing initiatives within the team and effectively communicate and collaborate with other members of the pricing team and other departments throughout RGA internationally, especially our risk management, operations, investment, and finance teams.
• Lead, coach and develop individuals within the team.

Qualifications

Required:

• Qualified Actuary, with FIA (or equivalent) Certification, and 3+ years post-qualified experience.
• Actuarial experience in reinsurance, an actuarial consultancy, pensions, or life insurance. We are looking for demonstrated knowledge of life insurance, longevity and / or annuity products, and technical knowledge of the actuarial aspects required for this role, with a strong desire to learn and develop to fill any gaps in knowledge.
• Technically and analytically strong, with the ability to challenge and enhance existing methodologies.
• Strong general IT skills with experience in developing models using Excel and/or actuarial modelling systems.
• Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received.
• Ability to take ownership of transactions and projects and drive them to completion.

Preferred:

The following are not requirements, but previous experience in some or all the below could be advantageous:

• Previous reinsurance, structuring, pricing, product design, ALM or risk management experience.
• Insurance / reinsurance transactional experience, ideally in the context of longevity, funded, or financial reinsurance.
• Proven capital, reserving and accounting knowledge.
• Experience in actuarial applications including (but not limited to) Prophet, MoSes, and/or AXIS.
• Efficient PC and technical skills including (but not limited to): spreadsheets (VBA), database applications (e.g. Access, SQL), and coding languages (e.g., R, Python).
