SVP, Consolidated Reporting Global Valuation

Position Overview

Leads, manages, directs and oversees valuation and financial actuarial and analytical processes related to corporate consolidated reporting. Works to expand and enhance management insights gained from quarterly financial reporting. Engages with industry and regulators on issues impacting valuation.

Responsibilities

  • Leads, manages and directs corporate actuarial reporting and analysis. Collaborates with and through the senior actuaries for each business unit and various RGA offices to achieve compliance and reporting objectives.
  • Performs management duties including, but not limited to, hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, and disciplining direct reports. Fosters a positive and engaged work environment. Mentors associates and gives guidance on associate development.
  • Partners with other corporate areas to develop, review and implement tax and capital strategies through our regulatory workings.
  • Develops and leads the implementation of enhanced legal entity management information, including expanded quarterly review and reporting of key metrics under multiple reporting bases.
  • Leads, manages and directs all aspects of legal entity financial planning for US and offshore operating companies, including preparation, review and monitoring of legal entity financial plans. Contributes to legal entity capital planning and related initiatives, such as any inter-company financing or restructuring.
  • Maintains awareness of relevant changes in actuarial requirements and risk mitigation techniques for reinsurance structures and underlying products.
  • Acts as Appointed Actuary for one or more US or offshore companies. Interfaces with regulators and industry groups in multiple jurisdictions. Actively represents RGA in discussions around valuation methodologies, standards and regulations.
  • Leads, sets standards, or contributes to the preparation and maintenance of Actuarial Memoranda for RGA's US and/or offshore subsidiaries.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Finance, Statistics, Actuarial Science or related field.
  • Fellowship, Society of Actuaries (FSA)
  • Member, American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA)
  • 15+ years experience in life or health insurance or reinsurance.
  • 5 years experience in financial reporting and/or related analytical role involving mortality and/or morbidity based products (GAAP, Stat, Tax)
  • Qualified to sign Public Statement of Actuarial Opinion or have within 6 months
  • Broad Understanding of Reinsurance product designs, pricing, administrative, accounting, and valuation requirements
  • Understanding of the bases behind assumptions driving reinsurance pricing and valuation
  • Advanced PC skills and understanding of actuarial systems - including spreadsheet, database, and actuarial projection tools
  • Highly advanced actuarial technical skills and an ability to detect and explain sources of variation from expectations in terms of key drivers
  • Exceptional people management skills, demonstrating the ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates; including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibility
  • Expert ability in implementing change within an organization, ensuring understanding, participation, and ownership.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills including presentation skills, demonstrating the ability to convey information in a way that is meaningful and well received by stakeholders and team members.
  • Highly advanced ability to adapt new methods; work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions.
  • Expert skills in managing multiple projects and/or sub-teams simultaneously
  • Highly advanced ability to make timely and effective decisions and produce results through strategic planning and the implementation and evaluation of programs and policies.

The general pay range for this position is $275,000-$315,000 per year. Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles, and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
