A Brief Overview

The Executive Director & Actuary role will run the actuarial function for strategic projects and initiatives: Product Development, High New Worth Business, Longevity Business, and others which can be included. Ensure the delivery of the initiatives accurately within deadlines to the necessary standards. Research and develop areas of statistics for selected data as required. Partner with Business Development to understand clients' needs and then work with clients on various projects and initiatives, as part of Latin America's Client Engagement strategy.

What you will do

  • Participates in setting strategy, policy and actuarial objectives with decision making based on thorough understanding of end results.
  • Help clients achieve their goals in respect of actuarial decisions, reinsurance matters and to participate in RGA's actuarial efforts in all business.
  • Provide actuarial support on financial reinsurance and develop the financial reinsurance techniques in the local markets for RGA.
  • Conduct appropriate research to ensure correct assumptions are available to facilitate profitable of treaty pricing.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and developments pertaining to statistics and actuarial analyses and develop new products in a format that is attractive to clients, that is profitable to RGA.
  • Attend relevant Actuarial Forums to network with senior personnel in client Actuarial teams and represent RGA and establishing personal networks and participating in professional & actuarial societies.
  • Support the Risk Management Area to monitor risks and satisfy Corporate Requirements. Responsible for the quality and accuracy of MIS reports within the Pricing and Risk Management Areas.
  • Visit clients as appropriate and market specific services and handle business issues as they arise.
  • Production of very selected reinsurance quotes according to quotes process.
  • Ensures treaty terms accurately reflect the understanding of client for the business written and ensure documentation is adequate and enforceable and procedures concerning treaties are adhered to.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Actuarial bachelor's degree and some related work experience (10+ years). required
  • Graduate studies preferred
  • 10+ Years of actuarial experience in life & health insurance. required
  • Strong verbal and written communication in Spanish and English. required
  • Seeks agreement or settlement in contentious or potentially contentious situations. required
  • Represent RGA Latin America in many forums and international conventions. required
  • Development of a new result by combining known information and techniques. required
  • Activities requiring the contribution of various resources (persons, spaces, material, budget etc.). required
  • Highly advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received. required
  • Highly advanced investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills. required
  • Expert ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives. required
  • Advanced skills in customer relationship management and change management. Highly advanced ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions. required
  • Highly advanced ability to manage multiple projects and/or teams simultaneously & to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines. required
  • Expert knowledge of life & health insurance products. required
  • Strong interest in research and documentation required
  • Fellowship with IAJ or equivalent professional body required
