Actuary - Global Valuation

This role will contribute to the continued development, improvement, and governance of the company's assumption management framework. Assignments will include supporting the continued development of an assumption governance framework, identifying, and promoting best practices for assumption setting, documentation, and implementation, and facilitating and coordinating the setting and review of assumptions. This role will work closely with and collaborate with the Global Modeling team. This high-profile role within the Consolidated Reporting area of Global Valuation involves exposure to the company's global product portfolio and extensive interaction with associates in other departments and offices.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a resource for the continued improvement of the formal assumption governance framework
• Coordinate and contribute to the development, documentation, maintenance, and enhancement of processes, procedures, and controls associated with assumption management
• Develops expertise across all aspects of assumptions and assumption tools and acts as a go-to resource for troubleshooting and answering questions coming from the reporting/analysis teams on assumptions and assumption tools.
• Serves as a liaison with other lines of business and company functions/departments to promote improvement in valuation and financial analysis for assigned business
• Develop and execute project plans to meet department goals
• Participate in department or cross-functional projects as needed and called upon
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance and perform other duties as required

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Finance, Statistics, or a related field
• FSA accreditation
• 7+ years of actuarial experience in the life insurance industry
• Advanced PC and technical skills, including database applications (Access, Oracle, SQL or equivalent technology), spreadsheets, and pivot tables
• Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey complex ideas in a way that is understandable by all stakeholders
• Advanced interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to work effectively with different disciplines, including valuation, risk management, investments, finance, accounting, and information technology
• Advanced investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of life, health, and annuity products
• Knowledge of GAAP, Statutory and Tax valuation, and financial reporting
• Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment
• Ability to simultaneously contribute to multiple projects and meet agreed deadlines
• Ability to balance detail with department goals and objectives

Preferred:

• Advanced project management skills, demonstrating an ability to leverage various resources and tools to reach a common goal
• Intermediate ability to use data visualization/workflow tools, such as Tableau and Alteryx
• Experience as a Product Owner or with supporting IT development from the business side.
• Knowledge of one or more actuarial modeling systems
• Reinsurance industry and product knowledge
• In depth understanding of US Statutory and Solvency II
• Familiarity with life insurance company financial statements
• Reinsurance industry and product knowledge
• Advanced experience with Prophet
• Reinsurance experience
• Experience with US GAAP long-duration targeted improvements and/or IFRS 17

Pay is based on a number of factors, including market, a candidate's skills, and experience commensurate with a role, etc. salary range: $132,430 - $202,455 + bonus
