About the role 

As the lead Pricing Actuary, you will act as the interface for the Reinsurance business unit in Zurich, Switzerland with regards to actuarial pricing and be the local guardian of the Technical Pricing Framework for all classes of business. 

 

Your responsibilities 

  • Analyse external and internal data to support technical pricing 

  • Keep developing a strong working relationship with all Zurich based RI Underwriters 

  • Arrange and deliver underwriter training as required 

  • Be the guardian of the Technical Pricing Framework for our Swiss location 

  • Ensure models meet the Reinsurance Pricing policy and standards in respect of technical pricing and rate monitoring 

  • Support and drive the model modernisation effort within and across MS Amlin AG, collaborating with pricing colleagues and the development team to migrate to the strategic Technical Pricing infrastructure 

  • Manage and/or assist in the development and maintenance of  models acting as the first point of contact for the underwriting community 

  • Support Internal Model parameterisation work undertaken by Underwriting Facilitation 

 

Your profile 

  • Master Degree successfully completed in Maths, Physics, Engineering or similar 

  • Qualified as an Actuary 

  • Over 5 years’ experience in relevant actuarial role, knowledge of Reinsurance pricing required 

  • Experience/Expertise in understanding, analysing and writing long-tail classes (casualty, specialty) an advantage 

  • Strong quantitative analytical skills 

  • Strong IT skills particularly MS Excel; VBA and SQL experience desirable 

  • Knowledge of data visualisation tools (MS Power BI or QlikView) and programming (R or Python)  

  • Ability to work well under pressure; attention to detail 

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with multiple departments within the organisation 

  • Open-minded positive personality with a keen interest to work in a hands-on international team 

  • Proficiency in English is required, German and French skills is an advantage
