A Brief Overview
- The Sr. Actuarial Analyst, Health performs pricing actuarial activities such as modeling, risk analysis, structuring, among others.
- Analysis of documents for risk exposure in potential transactions.
- Works with other team members as needed to determine client needs and objectives, understand and analyze client information, and design terms and structures of transactions to meet those needs and objectives.

Building proof-of-concept models for new opportunities or new reinsurance resolutions for our clients.

What you will do
- Performs pricing, modeling, risk analysis, and structuring activities on new or proposed transactions, or amendments to existing transactions, for the assigned business unit in a timely manner consistent with applicable standards.
- Produces quotes and reprices accurately within deadlines and to the necessary standards, including pricing and treaty wording. Decision making involves procedural actions on occasions where new circumstances arise but must stay within guidelines provided.
- Assesses and analyzes risk exposure to potential transactions and prepares documentation of these risks in detailed risk analysis reports.
- Develops and maintains documentation of personal work that complies with relevant ASOPs adequately and in a timely manner
- Reporting to the Senior Health Actuary. Provides technical support to Business Developers.
- Works with other pricing team members to determine client needs and objectives, understand and analyze client information, and design terms and structures of transactions to meet those needs and objectives.
- Sets realistic and achievable deadlines for modeling, risk analysis, and other business initiatives.Completes required tasks accurately within those deadlines.Drive the design of reinsurance transactions and lead discussions on risk issues with internal and external clients.
- Participates in key unit and ad-hoc department projects as needed.
- Assist other team members by building proof-of-concept models for new opportunities or new reinsurance solutions for our clients.
- Develop a good understanding of each client and its mode of pricing, responds to client and internal requests with accuracy and timeliness.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Math, Economics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in technical areas from Health Insurance / Reinsurance sector.
- 3+ years of experience in a business environment working with data analysis or statistical modeling.
- Advanced English Skills (Oral, Reading, and Writing).
- Ability to compile, analyze, refine, and interpret large amounts of financial data/results and model projections.
- Basic comprehension of actuarial and accounting concepts.
- Advanced Word, Excel and database application (SQL, Access Oracle) skills
- Advanced PC and programming languages (e.g., VBA) skills.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis tools (R and/or SAS).
- Advanced oral and written communication skills.
- Advanced interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to work effectively with different disciplines, including pricing, finance, accounting, systems, and administration.
- Complex investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced organizational skills with a detail-oriented ability to document, track and follow up on items.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, balancing priorities and deliverables while meeting tight deadlines.
- Ability to construct and recommend changes to processes and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and to work well within a team environment and participate in department projects.

Preferred:
- Progress toward SOA and/or CONAC Actuarial Exams.
- Experience with R, SAS, VBA, Oracle or SQL programming.
- Experience with actuarial pricing software.
- Experience in Health Markets.
- Highly advanced Health and technical skills, particularly in database applications (Access, Oracle, SQL, or equivalent) and programming such as visual basic macros.
- Knowledge of pricing health products.
- Knowledge of US GAAP insurance accounting standards.
